Background
WFM is a private equity and venture capital fund manager. Its activities are focussed on the investment of private equity and venture capital and it currently manages over £11 million of funds targeted at SME businesses in Wales.
The current funds under management include part of the European Objective I fund, alongside Finance Wales, and the HSBC Enterprise Fund for Wales and the follow-on HSBC UK / Finance Wales Fund for Wales.
With the funds under management, WFM typically invests in a range of early and development capital opportunities. As such, WFM is ‘hands on’ with its portfolio, usually taking a seat on the board, and integrally involved in the corporate and funding strategy. We have the capability to provide follow on investments as the company grows.
WFM is actively seeking to raise and manage larger funds capable of continuing our financing strategy and allowing investment in SME businesses across the UK working with its London presence to increase deal flow and to add additional value to its portfolio.
WFM was founded in late 1994 as part of the YFM Group. Richard Harbottle then acquired the business in an MBO early 2002 before its acquisition by Merchant Ventures Investments Limited in January 2006. Since its formation WFM has focussed its activities in Wales.
